Origin: the vetiver is a native plant of India, well known to the population since the time of the Vedas. In fact, vetiver was used in medicine due to its numerous benefits. In mythology, it was considered to be an herb with beneficial properties that could remove negative energy, whilst its fragrance was believed to be capable of driving evil spirits away. It was precisely for this reason that vetiver roots used to be woven together with carpet yarns and employed when building thatched huts. It plays a key role as a base note in perfumery and is one of the rare fixative essences extracted from the plant world.
